NY officials not enforcing ban on flavored vapes, poll reveals
A survey conducted by Siena College Research Institute found that New York officials are not effectively enforcing the ban on flavored vapes, leading to a thriving black market. 53% of residents believe that authorities are doing a fair or poor job, compared to 27% who view their efforts as good or excellent. Experts in harm reduction have called on the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC) to provide complete and accurate information about smoke-free alternatives. The call comes as delegates from 183 countries gathered for the COP 10 conference in Panama, where the future of new and emerging tobacco products was discussed. Experts criticised the WHO FCTC for its refusal to allow consumers to participate in the event and accused the organisation of disregarding scientific evidence to redefine "smoke".

B.C. to remove nicotine pouches from convenience stores
Nicotine pouches, specifically the brand Zonnic, will no longer be available for purchase in convenience stores in British Columbia. Premier David Eby and Health Minister Adrian Dix announced that the pouches will now be sold behind the pharmacy counter to prevent minors from easily accessing the addictive product. The move is in response to concerns about youth using smoking cessation products recreationally and the attractive packaging of Zonnic.

Many hookah manufacturers have not complied with FDA-mandated nicotine warning labels, finds study
A new study led by researchers from Boston University School of Public Health found that hookah companies in the US have low compliance with federal regulations for including nicotine warnings on their packaging. Only 3 out of 33 assessed brands were 100% compliant with all warning label requirements. Hookah smoking is not safer than cigarette smoking, as it contains harmful components such as nicotine, tar, heavy metals, and carbon monoxide.

B.C. restricts sale of nicotine pouches
British Columbia is introducing new regulations to prevent the sale of “nicotine pouches” to children and youth across the province. The rules taking effect Wednesday will restrict all buccal nicotine pouch products to behind the counter at pharmacies. No prescription is required, but purchasers will need to speak to a pharmacist to get it.
