Thousand-puff disposable vapes expected to hit UK market early next year
Vape manufacturing and technology firm Smoore has developed a 1,000-puff disposable device, which it expects to hit the market early next year. The device provides a significant improvement on the industry standard 600-puff devices, while remaining within UK regulations, the company says. Typically disposable devices fail to use around half of the nicotine-containing liquid within the cotton wick, Smoore claims. “It’s like a wet towel, it’s hard to fully extract the water,” said Rex Zhang, Smoore’s strategy director. “Half of the e-liquid is wasted, and that’s a lot of money wasted for consumers as well,” Zhang added.

Why I’ve taken up smoking again
In August, after nearly a decade of abstinence, I took up smoking again. In the months since, I’ve been sparking up with the enthusiasm of a zealous new convert. But it seems the UK government is now determined to piss on my Rizlas, to burn my rediscovered pleasure to ash, and to wrench the roll-up from my tar-stained fingers.

Is UK Government’s “Smoke-Free Generation” Bid Losing Its Way?
The government of the United Kingdom is pressing ahead with its plan to create a generation without legal access to tobacco and cigarettes. Its proposed Tobacco and Vapes Bill was formally introduced in the King’s Speech to Parliament on November 7. The tobacco plan, unveiled in October, is controversial in itself; people currently under 15 would never be able to buy cigarettes legally, ultimately leading to full prohibition. But the government’s bill also allows the possibility of new vape taxes and restrictions, as it promises to crack down on youth vaping.

Tax on vapes could be part of plans to create a smoke-free generation in UK
Ministers are considering a new tax on vapes in a significant expansion of moves to create a “smoke-free generation” that also includes the gradual introduction of a total ban on smoking for children. Documents published alongside Rishi Sunak’s first king’s speech revealed that an eight-week consultation on smoking and vaping would “explore a new duty” on vapes as about 40 other countries have already introduced.

Is Sweden's moist tobacco 'snus' all it's cracked up to be?
Sweden is expected to become Europe's first smoke-free country thanks to the popularity of 'snus'. But some are worried that the moist tobacco is a fairytale too good to be true. Used by one in seven Swedes, snus has, according to the government, helped slash the number of smokers from 15 percent of the population in 2005 to 5.2 percent last year, a record low in Europe. A country is considered smoke-free when less than five percent of its population are daily smokers.
