Youth Vaping Declining Among Montana High Schoolers, Unfortunately Recent Increase in Smoking

The 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey in Montana revealed a mixed picture of youth tobacco use. While e-cigarette use has decreased, combustible cigarette use among high school students is rising, suggesting a shift towards more harmful tobacco products. Efforts to reduce youth vaping have led to unintended consequences, with an increase in traditional cigarette smoking. 18.30% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 48.7 million current smokers in United States 21.60% of men are current smokers but only 15.20% of women.
