Many respondents indicated that higher prices could make it harder to stay smoke-free, with some even considering a return to cigarettes. The findings highlight concerns that price-driven policies may unintentionally undermine smoking cessation efforts. They also raise broader questions about whether taxation is being used primarily as a public health tool or a source of revenue.
11.80% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 6.7 million current smokers in United Kingdom 13.60% of men are current smokers but only 10.10% of women.
