Vapers ‘blindsided’ by potential 264% price hike as new vape duty looms

A 264% price hike is not a small adjustment for people who have moved from smoking to vaping. Price can decide whether a lower-risk product remains usable, especially for adults managing dependence, budgets and the temptation to return to cigarettes. Vape duty should not make the safer legal option feel like a luxury or push consumers towards cheaper illicit products. Tax policy needs to support the shift away from combustion, not penalise it.

World map

11.80% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 6.7 million current smokers in United Kingdom 13.60% of men are current smokers but only 10.10% of women.
