Teens and young adults modify electronic nicotine delivery systems, finds study

Editors reviewed a study showing Adolescents and young adults modify electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), with refilling pods and recharging batteries being common. Information sources include friends and social media. Associations were found between sources and modifications, with concerns about harm and coolness. Authors suggest studying respiratory and toxicity risks, educating about dangers like explosions, burns, and cannabis vaping. Grace Kong and colleagues from Yale School of Medicine conducted the research published in Pediatrics. Future efforts should address these risks among ENDS users. (Words: 79)
