Teen Cannabis Use Has Fallen Amid Legalization, CDC Data Show

A CDC survey showed a decline in high-school students' past-month marijuana use, dropping from 23% in 2013 to 17% in 2023. Despite minor fluctuations, overall teenage marijuana use has decreased since 2013. Notably, male students exhibited a more significant decline. The survey also highlighted reductions in alcohol use and prescription opioids among students. Critics' fears of increased youth consumption post-cannabis legalization were contradicted by the data. Various studies have supported the notion that marijuana legalization does not significantly impact youth usage rates, with many showing stable or declining trends.
