Switching from smoking to vaping improves respiratory health

Switching from smoking to vaping led to improved respiratory health, but not for those who vaped while still smoking cigarettes. A study from Oxford University Press in Nicotine and Tobacco Research showed that completely switching to e-cigarettes moderately improved wheezing resolution, but not coughing. Quitting nicotine entirely had the best outcomes for respiratory symptoms. Dual use of cigarettes and e-cigarettes did not show respiratory improvement and even worsened cough and wheezing. The research, based on data from the PATH study, revealed that those who transitioned solely to vaping experienced reduced wheezing. Overall, stopping nicotine intake altogether resulted in the most significant improvements in both coughing and wheezing.
