Survey finds proposed vaping restrictions could cost public health £4.5bn a year
Proposed vaping restrictions should be judged not only by their intention, but by their cost to public health. Hiding or limiting lower-risk products may reduce visibility, but it can also make switching less likely for adult smokers who still need a route away from cigarettes. A policy that discourages vaping while smoking remains available risks protecting the wrong behaviour. Regulation should target youth access and irresponsible retailing without weakening one of the most practical exits from combustion.
11.80% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 6.7 million current smokers in United Kingdom 13.60% of men are current smokers but only 10.10% of women.
