Responses to the FDA’s tobacco regulatory agenda show how wide the gap remains between precaution, evidence and the needs of adults who smoke. If the process treats lower-risk nicotine products mainly as a threat, it risks missing their potential role in reducing exposure to combustible tobacco. Better regulation starts with listening to evidence, consumers and unintended consequences — not only institutional caution.
14.10% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 39.8 million current smokers in United States 17.10% of men are current smokers but only 11.10% of women.
