Prevalence and correlates of e-cigarette use among older adults aged 60 years and over
New evidence from Scotland shows that e-cigarette use among adults aged 60 and over is low, but strongly concentrated among current and former smokers. That matters because older adults carry a high burden of smoking-related disease and may need more tailored cessation support. The findings point to the need for balanced risk communication that helps older smokers understand the difference between combustible tobacco and lower-risk alternatives. Harm reduction should not leave older adults behind.
