Plain Packaging and “Drab” Colors: The UK’s Latest Anti-Vape Plan

Plain packaging for vapes may make products look less appealing, but that is not the same as making policy more effective. For adults trying to move away from cigarettes, product information, differentiation and trust all matter. If lower-risk alternatives are stripped of identity while cigarettes remain familiar and available, regulation may weaken the very appeal that helps switching. Public health should be careful not to make safer options harder to recognise, understand or choose.
