Ministry of Health requests to step up inspection and punishment related to electronic cigarettes

The Ministry of Health is increasing inspections and penalties for electronic cigarette offenses. Offenders face fines of 1 to 2 million VND and repeat violations will result in double fines. Authorities confiscated e-cigarette products from businesses and are enforcing Resolution No. 173/2024/QH15 to ban production and use of these products by 2025. The Ministry is amending Decree No. 117/2020/ND-CP to propose fines and confiscation of e-cigarettes for violators. Measures include destruction of products and notifying violators' workplaces or schools for appropriate action. The Ministry emphasizes the prohibition of e-cigarettes and tobacco products, urging strict enforcement and public awareness efforts.
