Legal Marijuana Is Making Roads Deadlier

The rush to legalize marijuana without proper safety measures is contributing to a significant increase in car crashes, leading to a rise in fatalities in both Canada and the U.S. Studies show a 475% increase in cannabis-related crashes in Ontario and a 21.5% proportion of motor-vehicle deaths involving cannabis use in the U.S. Lack of awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence of marijuana is a major factor. Governments need to improve public awareness, enhance detection technology, and conduct more research to prevent further tragedies. The urgency to address this issue is crucial to avoid more deaths caused by marijuana-related accidents.
