How to spend £8 million
Eight million pounds can buy a lot of public health activity. The harder question is whether it buys better outcomes. Funding should support evidence, transparency and interventions that help smokers move away from combustible tobacco — not campaigns that deepen confusion about lower-risk alternatives. In tobacco policy, spending money is not the same as reducing harm.
11.80% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 6.7 million current smokers in United Kingdom 13.60% of men are current smokers but only 10.10% of women.
