Finding Optimism in the Tobacco Harm Reduction Maelstrom

Optimism in tobacco harm reduction does not come from pretending the work is easy. It comes from the evidence that change is already possible: smoking can fall, safer alternatives can reach people, and public health can move beyond abstinence-only thinking. The setbacks are real, from prohibition to misinformation, but so are the lives improved when smokers find a route away from combustion. Harm reduction is ultimately a reason to keep going.
