Experts say it's time to include nicotine e-cigarettes in smoking cessation conversations
A lower-nicotine cigarette may change the product, but it does not remove the need for a serious quit conversation. Smokers still need clear support, realistic options and honest information about why burning tobacco causes so much harm. Any move to reduce nicotine in cigarettes should be paired with access to effective cessation tools, including lower-risk nicotine alternatives where appropriate. Otherwise, policy may weaken dependence on paper while leaving people without a workable route away from smoking.
14.10% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 39.8 million current smokers in United States 17.10% of men are current smokers but only 11.10% of women.
