Flavour bans promise simple solutions, but the real-world evidence is far less convincing. When smoke-free products become less appealing or harder to access, adult smokers may lose one of the reasons switching away from cigarettes works. Youth protection should be taken seriously, but policy must also consider unintended consequences: illicit markets, reduced switching and a return to smoking. A ban is not a success if it removes options without reducing harm.
