Denver Will Ban Flavored Vapes and Nicotine Pouches

The Denver City Council voted to ban flavored vapes, nicotine pouches, menthol cigarettes, flavored cigars, and smokeless tobacco. The law exempts flavored hookah products and unflavored combustible cigarettes. Mayor Mike Johnston will sign the ban, effective in 90 days. The ban affects about 550 retail stores. Retailers opposed the ban, supported by the Denver Post. Despite calls for stricter enforcement, the council prioritized public health and youth protection. A similar ban was vetoed three years ago by the then-mayor due to concerns about its impact on businesses.
