Comparing self-rated health among exclusive e-cigarette users and traditional cigarette smokers: an analysis of the Health Survey for England 2019

E-cigarette users perceive better health compared to cigarette smokers, supported by studies showing potential cardiovascular and respiratory benefits, lower exposure to carcinogens, and reduced harm from tobacco smoke. While some research raises concerns, overall evidence suggests e-cigarettes offer harm reduction. Public health policies promoting e-cigarettes as a safer option have led to a decline in smoking rates and improved health perceptions. Self-rated health studies, though subjective, provide valuable insights into user experiences and support harm reduction strategies. Longitudinal research is needed to understand the long-term effects of e-cigarette use.
