Age-of-sale laws are only as strong as their enforcement. Raising legal thresholds may signal action, but youth protection depends on retailers being checked, illegal sellers being challenged and adults still having credible routes away from smoking. A balanced approach should keep underage users out of nicotine markets without making lower-risk products harder for adult smokers to access. The aim should be targeted control, not broad restriction disguised as protection.
11.80% of the adult population are current smokers. There are approximately 6.7 million current smokers in United Kingdom 13.60% of men are current smokers but only 10.10% of women.
