Smoking is the biggest cause of early preventable death* in adults aged over 35 in Wales and costs** the NHS there over £300m a year.

And on World No Tobacco Day, ASH Wales (Action on Smoking and Health Wales) is one of a number of charities in Wales calling for more support for people to help them quit.

They have chosen the occasion to remind people of the lung damage that can result from the dangerous addiction. Put simply, those who smoke are more likely to develop serious health conditions, like lung cancer and heart and circulatory diseases.
