From mom-and-pop shops to the big retail chains, pharmacies in New Jersey would be prohibited from selling tobacco and vaping products if a bill that state panel approved Tuesday becomes law.

With pharmacies offering clinic services like blood pressure screenings, vaccinations and on-site medical consultations, they are “health care facilities,” and should not be selling products that are harmful, said Sen. Joseph Vitale, D-Middlesex, who sponsored the legislation.
